HOPE IS ALIVE!
I Peter 1:3-4
Intro.: Quote, “Where there is no faith in the future, there is no
power in the present.” - Do you have Hope?
“Hope” = (Gr.) anticipation, expectation , confidence.
I. The Revival of Hope. v.3
“…hath begotten us again unto a lively hope…”
A. Hope was Lost .
Peter recalls their despair when Christ died and was buried.
Luke 24:19-21
B. Hope was Resurrected !
“Begotten us again” = (Gr.) to beget, to bear again.
“Lively” = (Gr.) living – A hope which is not dead, but alive
and powerful !
II. The Foundation of Hope. v.3
“…according to His abundant mercy…”
- God doesn’t want to give us what we deserve . He will forgive , show favor, and give blessings!
Psalm 103:4,8,10-11
“…by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”
- Our hope is for the resurrection and this hope is alive because of Christ’s resurrection .
- God keeps His word! Matthew 28:6, “He is risen, as He said ”!
III. The Object of Hope. v.4
“To an inheritance incorruptible , and undefiled, and that
fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”
A. Is in the Future .
B. Is a Gift .
C. Is Eternal .
D. Is Pure .
E. Is Enduring .
F. Is Personal .
