HOW TO BE LIGHT IN DARKNESS

Philippians 2:15

 

Intro.: This text is a parallel passage to Matthew 5:14-16.

  God’s expectation of Church Separation has a purpose .

• A light in darkness is Appreciated !
• A light in darkness is Effective !

  How are we to be light in darkness?: 

I.  Illuminate Truth.

  A. Received at Salvation .    Eph.1:18

      B. Responsibility of the Church .   Eph.3:7-11

      C. Revealing Jesus Christ .   John 1:9

• Revealing Truth .

 

II. Reflect Truth Precisely.

   II Corinthians 3:18

      A. A Mirror is for Admiring .

  B. A Mirror is Accurate .

  C. A Mirror is Convicting . 

III. Demonstrate a Dependable Pattern.       I Timothy 1:16

  A. Definitions

   “Pattern” = to match or imitate a standard or person  
   which is looked at as an ideal. 
  “Dependable” = able to be relied upon at all times.

  B. Applications

   1) Consistency .

   2) Excellence .

   3) Eternal Hope . 

IV. Actively Persuade .

• Christians are to be Leaders !

  A. Leaders are Active .

  B. Leaders are Persuasive . 

V.  Perceptively Guide .     Acts 8:31

  A. A Guide must Teach .

  B. A Guide is Perceptive . 

VI. Communicate Compassion .

• This is where we get our word sympathy .
