RESTING IN THE SHEPHERD’S CARE
Psalm 23:2a
Intro.: “Lie down” = Resting.
As we have seen in verse 1, the follower of the Good Shepherd
will “not want.” One thing that we should not lack -
“…My peace I give unto you…” (John 14:27).
I. The Shepherd Persists the Sheep Rest.
“He maketh me to lie down” = (Heb., 1 word) to make to rest,
to cause to lie down.
II. The Shepherd Provides the Sheep Rest.
A. Free of all Fear .
- The Christian should have a keen awareness of the Good Shepherd’s Presence and Control .
B. Free from Friction .
- Tension, jealousy, pride, rivalry, contempt & hatred prevents peace in the Body of Christ.
- God wants Humility & Unity in the Body.
C. Free of Aggravations .
- The Holy Spirit brings healing, comfort, and relief from the frustrations of life.
D. Free from Hunger .
- The Good Shepherd, through His Holy Word , works to remove sin in our life and give us an abundant life of joy and victory .
Concl.: Do we still prefer to feed on the barren ground of the
world ?!
