THE CHRISTIAN AND POLITICS

I Peter 2:9-23

 

Intro.: Current trends in America toward Liberalism can be dis- 
 couraging to the Conservative Christian.  But, this is not a time 
 for Pessimism and Panic!

 How is a Christian to act and respond in such an ungodly day? 

I. OBEDIENCE .       I Pet. 2:13-15 

• The Christian’s ultimate obligation is always obedience to God.
• To obey God one must obey God-given authority in the home , church , and state .

 
 

• The Bible does not condone violating civil laws unless those laws expect one to violate a clear command of Scripture.

 
 
 

II. PERSEVERANCE .     I Pet. 2:9-11 

• The Christian is to remain steadfast, unchanging in spite of spiritual and moral decline all around him.

 
 
 

III. PRAYER .        I Timothy 2:1-3 

• Rather than Pessimism and Panic, this is a time to seek God for revival !

 
 
 

IV. PERSISTENCE .       I Pet. 2:9,12,15,17-18 

• The Christian Community must desire with God’s help and power to be effective and infective !
