Our Church History  /files/oldchurch3.jpg

On February 14, 1845 several families from the Delavan and Geneva area met in the log school house of East Delavan and founded the “Delavan and Geneva Baptist Church.”  In 1848 the name was changed to “East Delavan Baptist Church" and the church built it's first building which later became the East Delavan School House. In 1869 a new white church building was completed which existed until 1972 when the present brick building was constructed.  The church has acquired 3 acres on which the church and parsonage are located and has plans for future expansion and growth. A total of 53 pastors have served the church. Many of the pastors in the early years were students. The last 4 pastors have served for a total of 42 years. During the last 17 years the church has grown form an average attendance of 55 to 150. In 1978 the Spanish ministry began, and May of 2006 saw the beginning of a ministry to the Deaf. For over 160 years the ministry continues to take a stand on the fundamentals of the faith and uphold God’s Word to a lost and needy world.  Many have been saved, baptized, and grown in the Lord in this local, independent Baptist Church!  Serveral have been called to the ministry and are serving in full-time Christian work as pastors, missionaries, and Christian teachers. We pray and determine to continue to serve God here in this ministry until He comes.
